Christopher Hughes

Bespoke Furniture Maker

Based in Acton, West London, Christopher Hughes has been designing and making contemporary, commissioned pieces of individual, hand-crafted furniture since leaving The John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood at Parnham, Dorset in 1993.

With a background in three-dimensional design, his ethos has always been that form should follow function and to let the quality of design and construction express itself through the details of a beautiful piece.

Recipient of a Crafts Council Setting-Up grant 1995.

"William Morris summed it up well" he says - 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful'.

I strive to fulfil both of these criteria in everything I make - beautiful, useful and well-made pieces of bespoke furniture that enrich our everyday lives".

He is one of a new generation of designer/craftsmen focussing on the very highest level of quality and bringing the personal, tailored and unique back to a discerning group of clients.

Why settle for whatever the shops want you to have when you can have the furniture you want to have?
